Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo, better known as Frida Kahlo (Coyoacán, July 6, 1907 - ibid, July 13, 1954) was a Mexican painter. Married to the famous Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, his life was crossed by the misfortune of a childhood disease and a serious accident in his youth that kept her bedridden for long periods, reaching up to 32 undergo surgery. He led an unconventional life, was bisexual and among her lovers was Leon Trotsky. His paintings thematically revolves around his biography and his own suffering. He painted some 200 works, mostly self-portraits, in which projected their difficulties to survive. Kahlo's work is influenced by her husband, Diego Rivera, with whom he shared his identification by Mexican folk art that inspired indigenous roots to other Mexican painters of the post-revolutionary period.
